I have not felt this pissed off since people couldn’t define socialism during the 2008 election. I cannot believe that right before my eyes I am witnessing the human race devolve. Be ready to gouge your eyes out with this news: Texas is rewriting history. How are they doing this? By removing lessons relating to Thomas Jefferson, separation of church and state, the gold standard, social security, medicare, the Declaration of Independence, — oh, and slavery will be known as the “Atlantic Triangular Trade.” They will be teaching about how the UN undermines sovereignty, and B.C.E and C.E. will of course be B.C. and A.D. Oh, and Barack Obama? No mention. The new Judeo-Christian based curriculum will affect 4.8 million students. From AP:
“The board approved the new standards with two 9-5 votes along party lines after months of ideological haggling and debate that drew attention beyond Texas.
‘”I am disturbed that a majority of the board decided their own political agendas were more important than the education of Texas children,”‘ said Rep. Mike Villarreal, a San Antonio Democrat.
In one of the most significant curriculum changes, the board diluted the rationale for the separation of church and state in a high school government class, noting that the words were not in the Constitution and requiring students to compare and contrast the judicial language with the First Amendment’s wording.”
So why are they taking these measures you wonder? Well, conservative board members feel as if the current curriculum is skewed by the left and they want to bring it back in balance….by altering and erasing history. The people advocating small government are utilizing government to alter education as they see fit — funny how the world works, right??
I honestly have no words for this. It’s really getting to the point that my blog is beginning to look like too much of a joke-site because I can’t even make this shit up. How ridiculous can we allow our governments to be? First Arizona, now Texas? And I’m pretty sure there will be more states that will follow suit. Texas is already preparing over a billion dollars to implement new textbooks into classrooms. I can only hope that parents speak out against these politicians and stop this from happening, because now the damage has begun.
