Glenn Beck Was Joking This Whole Time??? January 20, 2011

Jon Stewart invites the hilarious Glenn Beck on his show.

Is Our Glass Half Full? January 20, 2011

With everything that’s been going on — from Giffords attempted assassination to 300 cows mysteriously dead, I wanted to take the time to write a post that’s a bit more uplifting. I know I tend to bask in the negative, so I want to take the time to shed some light in areas that need it.

1) The United States Constitution

Let’s face it. The US Constitution was written in 1787 by a bunch of slave owning, aristocratic white men. It was a different time then — blacks were regarded as 3/5 of a human being, women couldn’t own property, and the right to bear arms primarily dealt with the possibility of another British invasion. So why is it that in 2011 these men are revered as gods, their Constitution almost infallible. Many politicians believe we should follow a literal interpretation of it. But why? A lot has changed since 1787, and as a young country we have not yet hit our peak as a society. America is the teenager of the world that can’t be told what to do. We still need to evolve as a society and understand that we can change the damn thing. The Founders were just as human as we are now.

2) There ARE consequences to negative political rhetoric.

I can’t believe some people would think that there is no way the media — whether positive or negative — has no effect on society. Think about it like this: Glenn Beck steps up to his chalkboard (eyes filled with tears) ranting about how he’s lost his country, yearning for the 1950s when “those” people knew their place. He calls Obama a racist, questions his birthplace, links him to some sort of Kenyan Marxist/Socialist/Communist/Fascist party, talks about white slavery as the Progressives’ “final solution,” eerily plays images of Nazis marching and claims that Hitler was a leftist  – and somehow that speech doesn’t lead to this?

Yeah, okay. Basically, this has to come to stop. We are not going to get anywhere by screaming at each other like a bunch babies. Stop taking your information at face value and actually research things for YOURSELVES. Remember, none of these talking heads are infallible.

3) Let’s stop talking about Sarah Palin.

I know, I know it’s so much fun to make fun her. She’s too easy! From her “Mama Grizzly” and “Blood Libel” rants to the cheat sheets on her palms, the Daily Show and Real Time with Bill Maher will never run out of material. But now, I think it’s time that we throw in the towel on this one. If you ignore something long enough, it’s destined to go away. The more attention we give this festering sore, the worse it’s going to get. Palin has already shot herself in the foot with the images of the cross hairs on a map on her website, regardless of whether or not it played a roll in Loughner’s messed up head. No, we can’t blame her for the shooting but we can still justifiably add her to my #2 post above. NO MORE PALIN.

4) Quit blaming everything on the poor and working class. Seriously.

This has got to stop. And usually it’s the same kind of person doing the blaming: a Christian (ha!) that thinks poor people are lazy, using tax dollars to nurse themselves off of the tit of BIG GOVERNMENT, going to the hospital everyday just for shits and giggles so that someone else will pay for it. These same critics also believe that food stamps are being used to buy drugs and alcohol, and that if you’re on unemployment you’re living lavishly with daily meals of Fois Gras and Moet. Meanwhile, no one wants to even look at the crooks on Wall Street as they allocate more and more money to the top. But still, one would argue that they aren’t using tax payer money. Um….bailouts anyone? Besides, wealth is kind of like the law of thermodynamics. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it is simply transferred. Same thing applies to wealth. Although money may be created out of thin air, wealth isn’t simply transferred — it’s stolen. Wealth also cannot exist without debt. And debt cannot exist without massive consumption. No one wants to rely on the government for anything. Everyone wants a slice of the American Dream and will drive themselves into debt to get it, only to be punished and ostracized by certain political parties. Blaming the victim will not help. But getting to the root of these issues will be beneficial for this country. Which leads me to –

5) Stop worshiping the rich.

I get it. Watching shows like “Real Housewives” and “Cribs” gives us the escapism we need to forget about living paycheck to paycheck. Consuming more and allocating more crap with a label slapped across it marking said crap up 200% will not make you happy. Hate to say it, but Biggie Smalls was right: mo’ money, mo’ problems. The only thing appealing about being rich is being able to pay off debts. But money truly cannot buy you happiness. Imagine having everything you could possibly want. But a month later that gets old and you constantly find yourself chasing after things, after people that you think make you a happier person. But at the end of the day, you still have to live with you. Money will not correct the wrongs in your life, it will not make you better, it will not stop political strife in African countries (looking at you, Madonna — throwing money at something won’t make it better). It is important to realize the most important things in life cannot be bought.

6) Treat the environment with some respect.

Considering our American ancestral roots are traced heavily from the Puritans, the Bible plays a huge role in how we view the world today. As I wrote previously in another post, we feel that the world belongs to us and that God made it this way. Not to burst any Christian bubbles, but if the human race went extinct, the world would keep on spinning. Mother Nature can surely carry on without us. The only creatures that would have a massive effect on the world due to extinction would be Bees. If we were ever so smart, we would have realized prior to “civilization” that we have everything we need in nature. But since we consider ourselves so superior, we decided to take life into our own hands — and in doing so have destroyed so much of it. Nature is all about cause and effect. We are simply part of the chain. The BP oil spill is an example of our arrogance as we have already forgotten about it by protesting for MORE drilling. Then we sit around scratching our heads as to why hundreds of birds, fish, crabs, and cows have mysteriously died out of nowhere. How is it that with so many people all over this world we think we have no effect on the Earth?

7) Educate yourselves.

Stop watching TV, pick up a book or TEN, and learn how you can have a positive effect on the world around you. Don’t align your actions with a political ideology or party. There is nothing wrong with caring about your fellow human being, about nature, or its inhabitants. We need to carry on our role on this planet responsibly. The only reason we are different from all the other creatures on Earth is because of our self-awareness. We all have our different outlooks on life politically, spiritually, and morally. But we are all one in the same and we can’t view everything in hindsight wishing we could have done things differently and that’s it’s too late to change. It’s never too late evolve. Once we understand that, we can all move forward.

A Sad Day in America January 9, 2011

It appears that Sarah Palin and Glen Beck’s rhetoric really does work. Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D) was shot in the head by terrorist Jared Loughner. She is still in critical condition. A nine-year-old girl was shot, a Federal Judge, and a few on-lookers were shot and killed, with an additional amount of others injured. The gunman is (not surprisingly) tied to a White Nationalist group known as the American Renaissance, an anti-immigration, anti-semitic, anti-anything that isn’t white and stupid kind of group.

Arizona has not quite built itself the best reputation. The state made headlines for the controversial SB 1070 immigration law, as well as their major changes to school district’s diverse education curriculum. Giffords has previously dealt with death threats due to the health care bill. Her political opponents urged followers to “Get on target for victory” and help “remove” Giffords from office at a June event in which participants could shoot an automatic rifle. Our favorite idiot Sarah Palin listed Gabrielle Gifford’s seat as a “target” on her “hit list.” Below is a picture from “Take Back the 20″ of targets all over the country. The targets highlight Democrats who supported the current health care bill.

Here is another image of the map with a list of all the democratic candidates:

This tragedy is a clear example of partisanship gone too far. Right-wing media is demanding that its angry white citizens “take America back” from the supposed leftists in our country (ironically Gabrielle Giffords was considered more of a Blue Dog Dem.) The prayers of Sarah Palin and Glen Beck have been answered. “Don’t retreat– reload” has trumped political debate and compromise. What these kind of people want is another Civil War. It also makes one wonder what this means for the election of 2012. How can Republicans redeem themselves when their party has been tainted racists and bigots who use the 2nd Amendment as an excuse to rid the country of those who don’t believe in their views? How long before someone else entranced by Fox News decides to take matters into their own hands and decide what’s right for America not only by killing a politician, but American citizens all together?

Arizona has now become the center of hate and bigotry in our country. The right-wing media needs to be held responsible for calling these nut-jobs to arms in the first place. Telling people to bring guns to a political rally but pretending as if nothing could go wrong because of that is absolutely ridiculous. Here is a video and quote that best sums up the catalyst of this tragedy from Keith Olbermann:

“If Glenn Beck who obsesses nearly as strangely as this Mr. Loughner did about gold and debt – and who wistfully joked about killing Michael Moore – and Bill O’Reilly who blithely repeated ‘Tiller the Killer’ until the phrase was burned into the minds of his viewers; if they do not begin their next broadcasts with solemn apologies for ever turning to the death fantasies and the dreams of blood lust, for ever having provided just the oxygen for those deep in madness for whom violence is an acceptable solution then those commentators and the others must be repudiated by their viewers and listeners, by all politicians who would appear on their programs – including President Obama and his planned interview with Fox on Superbowl Sunday, and repudiated by the sponsors and by the networks that employ them.”

Expect further updates.

Why You Should Lock Your Daughter Away, Period January 7, 2011

The last time I wrote about classy women in entertainment, I targeted Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Snooki, and even Kat Stacks. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be a little girl today. There’s a lot more pressure to grow up fast. Today, 12 year old girls are now getting bikini waxes and can apply their makeup better than I ever could. What’s even more disturbing is the new modeling trend of girls 12 and under. The new issue of French Vogue features children in full makeup, gowns, jewelry — as a younger personification of their adult counterparts. Take a look at a couple of pics below:

What is truly disturbing though is that not a lot of people are bothered by this. Some even compared it to child pageantry. Compare it all you want, but sorry to say: all that shit is fucked up. To me this is like fueling the fire for child predators. I know I’m not helping by re-posting it, but if any disgusting pedophiles come to my blog, they better beware of this guy:

Don’t know who he is? Pedophiles do. Google Chris Hanson and prepare to have your eyeballs blow out of the back of your head, cause this guy is AMAZING.

Anyway, if any of you would like to comment I would like your take on this issue. I can’t be the only one disturbed by this new trend. I personally blame the Kardashian family for starting us all on the road to hell. I’m telling you the Kim Kardashian Konspiracy is REAL.

Happy (Belated) New Year! January 7, 2011

He has come to punish the socialists!!

So it’s a brand new year, and one of my resolutions is to update my blog more often. I tend to get caught up in this mess called life, but blogging always brings me back to sanity (I think). Although it may be a refreshing start for many of us, it’s the same old bullshit in Washington. Here’s what we can all look forward to in 2011:

Evil photoshopping of EVIL OBAMA!!!

More birds are dying and falling out of the sky, as well as mass death of fish populations. Of course people think this has something to do with the end times because socialist-communist-fascist Obama and the Devil are planning our demise on the island of Hawaii, surrounded by a council of Jewish-Arabic-Kenyans that hate America. GOD IS PUNISHING US ALL FOR THIS!!! REPEAL HEALTHCARE SO GOD IS PLEASED!! I’m really surprised that these supposed “fact checkers” haven’t simply logged onto the internet to find past examples of this happening. The government has a history of controlling large bird populations, which tend to affect farmers. Plus, why can’t anyone believe for a moment that these deaths be attributed to humans rather than a deity? Oh my America, how you constantly misplace blame.

However, if the signs of the end times were true, we have Congress to blame. John Boehner (a guy I make fun on here a lot) is now the Speaker of the House. So now we can look forward to tears whenever he reflects on his 1950s image of America as long gone. Oh, it must be so painful to be you John Boehner. How can we live in a world where people of all backgrounds and classes have access to basic healthcare? It’s a travesty I tell you!! A TRAVESTY.

Elsewhere in the Legion of Doom, Republicans are planning (of course) to extend tax cuts to the wealthy, revising the Constitution and keeping any mentions of slavery out, denying immigrants citizenship while employing them in their expensive mansions, continuing to deny climate change and hope that all the ice caps melt so we can find more places to drill, and continue to use Arabs/African Americans/Hispanics/Asians/Atheists/Jews/Gays etc. as scapegoats.  And the rich keep getting richer.

All in an honest day’s work!

In the entertainment aspect of things, things are still incredibly stupid. That very orange Troll from that MTV show about stupid Italian stereotypes if building her own empire.

I mean, really?

Despite over-expansion and inflation, wasn’t their desire of frivolous entertainment another sign of the empire’s fall? “Bread and circuses” has turned into “reality shows and Mountain Dew.” Virtue has died, the desire to protest has died, the American Dream has died (wasn’t really ever real), along with altruism and truth. We are faced with a shallow pop culture speaks to our desires but does nothing to contribute or help with the well being of society.

It’s still making us dumber.

So 2011 probably won’t be full of many surprises after all. More animals will probably continue to die and we’ll keep blaming everything else but ourselves. Politicians will continue to not help people by not fixing anything. America and its citizens will continue to spiral further into debt. Racism will continue to keep the divide and conquer strategy alive.

And people will keep asking if Hawaii is even a state.
